The Four Gospels and the One Christ: An Introduction to the New Testament Gospels

This course will help a layperson see the basic features that make each Gospel a unique portrait of Jesus and how the Four Gospels together provide a canonical image of Jesus.

Week 2: The Gospels according to Mark and Matthew
Week 3: The Gospel according to Luke/Book of Acts
Week 4: The Gospel according to John

Course Information

The Rev. Dr George Parsenios

Professor of New Testament, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; Adjunct Professor of New Testament, St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary

Fr George Parsenios is Professor of New Testament at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and was Professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary for 20 years.  Fr George is the author of three books and several essays on New Testament themes and is currently translating St John Chrysostom’s 12 Catechetical Homilies for the St Vladimir’s Seminary Press Popular Patristics Series. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and an M.Div. from the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. Fr George is the pastor of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington, MA.

Course Description

This is a non-credit and non-transferable course. This online course is 4 weeks long and will take place via Zoom every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET (June 4- 25, 2024). Each session includes:

  • Recorded video lecture by the professor

  • Optional Readings

  • 4 Live Q&A Sessions (~ 45 minutes each, including introduction, asynchronous material review by professor, Q&A).

    • Please note that these live discussion session recordings will not be available to registrants. 

Important: After registration please note that the course will be available from May 28 - July 31, 2024; during this time you will have access to all the lectures, slides, and reading material.  You will need the username and password that you created to log into the course. 

There will be no refunds after May 27, 2024.
